Wordless Wednesday: Mother Jones

Mary Harris, aka Mother Jones, was a prolific and effective labor activist and a favorite of West Virginia's coal miners.

Idea for this post came from Geneabloggers.com. I became interested in the labor unions after learning my great grandfather may have been a union agitator in the West Virginia coal fields.

  2. I recently purchased a biography about her. As I learn more about my great grandfather and find the likelihood of my grandmother's stories about him being true, I've become very interested in the labor movement in southern West Virginia as he was probably a union agitator. Mother Jones played a big role.
