I love bird watching and old books. I found a wonderful book in the Library of Virginia's digital collections, American Ornithology or the Natural History of the Birds of the United States, by Alexander Wilson, a contemporary of John James Audobon. This is an engraving from Wilson's book and includes Virginia's state bird, the Northern Cardinal. The other pair are Scarlet Tanagers.
The idea for this post came from Geneabloggers.com. Were any of your ancestors bird watchers?
